Choosing the right partner is critical to successful drug development. We help in selecting suppliers and creating partnerships.
We invest in drug development
We invest according to various business models, for instance, as capital investments, IP rights licensing, consulting services or success-fee-based agreements.
We advance drug target and compound refining
We help identify and evaluate promising drug compounds, from target identification and first molecule screening stage onwards. We steer and consult on planning the development phases of the drug compounds selected for the portfolio. Our experienced team has expertise in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, regulatory requirements and preclinical planning.
We drive the development of drug molecules through to the end of the preclinical research stage. We also help our partners in selecting suppliers and establishing supply chains.
We build strong commercial networks
Finding the right partners and creating networks as early as possible are both crucial to the success of the drug development process. We help establish connections with international investors and expand the network of stakeholders operating in the drug development sector.
We help build a channel to international financing and commercial success, and expand cooperation networks both within the drug development supply chain and with selected stakeholders. Our work will increase the awareness and recognition of Finland’s drug
development ecosystem.
We invest in drug development using various business models
As a limited liability company, our goal is profitable business, while simultaneously promoting the success of Finnish drug compounds that are promising in terms of national interests.
We can invest in companies developing drug compounds, but in all our investment models we need to be an active and operative development partner in the project. In these cases, we can invest, through capital investments, by licensing IP rights, by selling consulting services or by negotiating success-fee based agreements. The most suitable business model will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. We do not issue research grants.
The Finnish Drug Discovery Center Ltd in brief
We are a state-owned special assignment company that belongs to the administrative branch of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and falls under its ownership steering. We serve Finnish universities and research institutes, as well as operators and companies in the clinical drug research sector. In order to succeed, we need a strong and experienced expert organisation, which will be recruited in 2024–2025.
